Katy Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre Design/Technology with a focus in Costume Design from the J.T. and Margaret Talkington College of Visual and Performing Arts, School of Theatre and Dance at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. She served as an officer in her local chapter of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology and is an alumni member of the theatre honor society, Alpha Psi Omega, Tau Chapter.

She was a Wig and Makeup Apprentice at the Santa Fe Opera for their 2022 Summer Season and spent the summer of 2019 in Santa Rosa, California with Summer Repertory Theatre, working for their full rotating rep season. She has designed costumes, hair, and makeup for many productions at Texas Tech University, as well as for Texas Tech’s Theatre collaboration with The Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research (BurkTech).

Katy’s early interest in theatre became a passion for costume, hair, and makeup design when she participated in her high school theatre’s UIL One-Act Play competition. Since then, she has nurtured that passion with various other moulage and freelance work as well as with her numerous collegiate theatre opportunities.
